Some Models of 2013 Porsche Boxster to be Built by Volkswagen

A Volkswagen factory may provide additional capacity for the production of the new 2013 Porsche Boxster roadster. Volkswagen’s new plant in Osnabrueck, Germany, will provide extra vehicle assembly capacity for the primary Porsche factory in Zuffenhausen, Germany. Such a move had been rumored over a year ago.

Volkswagen is set to debut an updated version of last year’s striking Cross Coupe concept at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show on Tuesday, having replaced the original gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain with an even more fuel efficient diesel-electric plug-in hybrid setup.

Volkswagen is taking a two-pronged approach to saving fuel with the Cross Coupe concept debuting at the Geneva Motor Show. First, the compact crossover uses a plug-in hybrid system with two electric motors. Second, it includes one of Volkswagen’s next-generation turbodiesel engines.
