VW Issues Recall of 2010 Routan Minivan Due to Wireless Ignition Node Issue
Volkswagen recently issued a recall of its 2010 Routan minivan.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the wireless ignition node (WIN) module may cause the Town & Country, Grand Caravan (which the Routan is based on), or Journey AWD key to inadvertently go from Run to Accessory without warning. That would immediately shut off the engine, creating a driver safety hazard.
Approximately 12,600 vehicles may be affected by the recall. Volkswagen, whose dealerships will replace the WIN modules for free, is expected to begin the recall in April 2011.
